Austria\u2019s capital city is home <\/span><\/span>to numerous museums<\/span> showcasing the past, present and future of art, nature and technology. World-famous<\/span> artists<\/span>,<\/span> such as Gustav Klimt, Egon Schiele and Friedensreich Hundertwasser are synonymous with Vienna, with buildings designed by Hundertwasser dotted around the city. Visitors interested in natural sciences, technology and history will also find plenty of museums full of fascinating exhibits and interactive installations. <\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n Vienna\u2019s long and rich history as a home to artists<\/span> means it should<\/span> come as no surprise<\/span> that the city has an exceptionally large number<\/span> of art museums and galleries<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span> At the Wiener Hofburg<\/span><\/span><\/a> ,the former imperial palace,<\/span> visitors will find the MuseumsQuartier<\/span> \u2013 the biggest arts district in the world \u2013 home to internationally<\/span> renowned museums<\/span> like the Leopoldmuseum<\/span>, the Mumok<\/span> and<\/span> the Kunsthalle<\/span>. There is<\/span> always<\/span> plenty<\/span> going on here throughout the year. <\/span>In<\/span>summer there are many open-air events, while in winter special exhibitions are put on by the museums.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n A must<\/span> for fans<\/span> of architecture is a visit to the eye-catching Hundertwasser Haus designed by Friedensreich Hundertwasser. His influence can also be seen at the nearby Kunst Haus Wien, which has touches of the classic Hundertwasser style.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n Beautifully tended gardens, magnificently decorated rooms, long hallways and vast banquet halls \u2013 Belvedere Palace is a joy to behold. In the museum next door you will find some of Austria\u2019s most valuable works of art from the Middle Ages through to the present day, with works on show including Gustav Klimt\u2019s \u201cThe Kiss\u201d as well as paintings by Vincent van Gogh and Austrian artist Oskar Kokoschka.<\/span> <\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n Another must-see is the Museum of Fine Arts. Located just a stone\u2019s throw from the<\/span>Wiener Hofburg<\/span><\/a>the former imperial palace, it is home to major works by artists including Rubens and D\u00fcrer.
